How to connect
1Open API Keys in Viktor
Log in to app.viktor.com and open Settings > API Keys. API keys need a paid Viktor plan or Enterprise.
2Create a key with the task scopes
Generate a personal or team key. Grant threads:create, runs:create, and runs:read so chat can hand Viktor tasks. Add messages:create to answer Viktor's questions, and files:read for result files. Viktor shows the key only once.
3Open Connectors and choose Viktor
In StefanBrain, open Connectors, find Viktor, and click Connect.
4Paste the key
Paste the key into the API key field and click Connect. StefanBrain checks it with Viktor's key lookup, which starts no work.
5Hand Viktor a first task
Try asking StefanBrain to have Viktor summarize this week's sales.
Good to know
- Every Viktor task spends your Viktor workspace's credits, so starting one asks you first. So do continuing a thread, running a script, and cancelling.
- Most reads run without asking: checking a run, reading a thread, listing integrations, and fetching a file link. Reading the workspace audit log asks first.
- A tool works only when your key has its scope. Add scopes under Settings > API Keys in Viktor, and the change applies at once.
- StefanBrain asks Viktor to answer a new task within 45 seconds. If the task runs longer, StefanBrain checks the same task again instead of starting a new one.
- File links from Viktor need no sign-in and last about 15 minutes.

Which Viktor plans work?
Any paid Viktor plan or Enterprise. On the free plan, Viktor's API Keys page says API access is a paid feature.
Does connecting cost credits?
No. StefanBrain checks the key with Viktor's key lookup, which needs no scope and starts no work. Credits are spent only when Viktor runs a task.
Which scopes should my key have?
threads:create, runs:create, and runs:read let chat hand Viktor tasks. Add messages:create to answer Viktor and continue threads, and files:read for result files. Add threads:read and messages:read to read your threads, and integrations:read to list your tools.
What happens when a task takes a long time?
StefanBrain asks Viktor to answer a new task within 45 seconds. If the task is still running, it checks the same task again instead of starting it over.
What happens when my Viktor credits run out?
Viktor refuses new tasks, and StefanBrain tells you the workspace needs more credits. It answers from what it already has.
How is this different from Viktor in Slack?
It is the same Viktor and the same workspace. A team key may not reach connections limited to certain people. StefanBrain hands Viktor work from a chat and brings the result back there.
