How to connect
1Open Connectors and choose Metabase
In StefanBrain, open Connectors, find Metabase, and click Connect.
2Get your Metabase API key
Copy an API key from your Metabase account or developer settings. Create one for StefanBrain if you do not have a spare.
3Enter your credentials in the dialog
Paste the API key into the connection dialog and save. StefanBrain stores it encrypted; your Metabase password is never involved.
4Ask your first question
Try asking for the latest numbers from a dashboard your team checks daily, or how a key report changed this month.
Good to know
- The connection can only see what the key can see. Create the key with the access you intend StefanBrain to have, and nothing more.
- Disconnecting in StefanBrain removes the stored key. Rotating or deleting the key in Metabase ends access from the vendor side as well.

How does authentication work?
Metabase connects with an API key from your Metabase account or developer settings. You paste it into the connect dialog once, and StefanBrain stores it encrypted in transit and at rest. Your Metabase password is never requested or stored.
Can StefanBrain change my dashboards or data?
This connector exists to pull answers out, not to push changes in. Across StefanBrain, write actions are classified separately from reads and gated by tool permissions you control, so nothing changes without access you granted.
Does StefanBrain query my database directly?
No. Access goes through Metabase, so answers come from the dashboards and reports you already built. Your warehouse credentials stay inside Metabase where they are today.
How do I disconnect?
One click in Connectors removes the stored key and ends access. For a belt-and-suspenders cutoff, also rotate or delete the key in Metabase so the old credential stops working everywhere. Reconnecting later just means pasting a fresh key.
